Hello Summer

I might whine like a three year old about the heat (it's hot and it's awful and I hate it), but there is something special about the summer. Beyond the sunscreen, sweat and sand in uncomfortable places there is a brilliant, infectious energy of the Silly Season. As the temperature rises, our social calendars quickly fill. I always commit to as many events as possible because I don’t want to miss a moment. I’ll be spending most of my weekends flitting about between parties, picnics, dinners and drinks like I'm Daisy Buchanan.
There is little better than beginning the week with a packed calendar and I have the summer spirit to thank for that. Here’s mine:
Monday – Board-games and homemade pizzas at Amy's
Tuesday – Japanese feast with my family, my excellent aunt, her lovely Japanese husband and my delightful young half-Japanese cousins
Wednesday – Life drawing in the Valley with two friends from work
Thursday – Poolside drinks with three darling friends
Friday – Farewell drinks for a friend moving to London, Amnesty International ARTillery Art Festival
Saturday – DIY session with Hannah, a housewarming party and a great friend's birthday drinks
Sunday – Brunch, Matisse Exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art with a new buddy and then onto Christmas drinks
It's going to be wonderful. Waiter, bring me another gin.
